A Wilmington man has pleaded guilty to the kidnapping and murder of a New Castle County woman and the 2017 shooting of a 6-year-old boy on the same day.

David C. Weiss, United States Attorney for the District of Delaware, announced yesterday that Ryan Bacon, 37, of Wilmington, has pleaded guilty in federal court, accepting his role in the kidnapping and murder of Keyonna Perkins , 28, in the morning. of June 6, 2017 and the filming of JaShown Banner, 6, on the same day. U.S. District Judge Leonard P. Stark accepted the plea.

According to court documents, Bacon, who also calls himself “Buck 50,” pleaded guilty to the following offences: (1) conspiracy to commit kidnapping; (2) Discharging a firearm during and in connection with a crime of violence; (3) Conspiracy to commit harassment; and (4) Harassment. As part of the plea, Bacon agreed to serve 30 years in federal prison. Bacon’s sentencing date has yet to be set.

In October 2018, Weiss released a statement outlining the events of that day. According to the 2018 indictment, Ryan Bacon and five other co-defendants stalked an enemy of theirs beginning May 6. On June 6, several members of the group waited outside their target’s apartment. They eventually tracked and kidnapped Perkins, the target’s partner, and used her phone to lure the target out of the apartment. They fired on the target, missing him, with Perkins in the trunk of one of their cars. The group then transferred Perkins from the trunk of one car to another, and two defendants – Bacon and a co-defendant drove Perkins to Elkton, Maryland, where they shot her five times, killing her according to Weiss.

The indictment describes that the group then realized their target was still alive and drove to Wilmington. Three of the defendants followed their target into Wilmington, located him near the corner of 6th and Spruce streets, and shot him repeatedly, again missing him. A blow hit JaShown Banner, 6, who was in a nearby car, in the head. The child remains permanently and severely injured, Weiss said at the time.

Bacon faced a mandatory life sentence if convicted of Perkins’ kidnapping and murder, Weiss said in his 2018 statement.
